PITTSBURGH -- The U.S. Army Reserve's 354th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment unit attended the Point Park University men's soccer game Sept. 9 at Highmark Stadium as part of a training exercise. The unit utilized the game to practice gathering video and photography of live action.

Among the 354th MPAD's members on hand was Miguel Alvarez, who played men's soccer at Point Park from 2008 to 2011 and who is now a specialist in the reserves. The reservists participated in the pre-game U.S. National Anthem, and they were also recognized at halftime. 

"Point Park University is very proud and honored to welcome the 354th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment to our men's soccer game," the department said in a statement. "We are very appreciative to our military, and we support the 354th in its efforts to train in its media skills."

The 354th's has as its mission to "to tell the stories of our soldiers, their families and the reserves as a whole." The unit is based on out of Coraopolis, Pa., which is just outside of Pittsburgh.
