PITTSBURGH -- Point Park University men's soccer got its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout of visiting Siena Heights (Mich.) University Saturday at Highmark Stadium.

Point Park (1-2) played its best game of the year so far to prevent the 0-3 start to the season. Roberto Whitley keyed the win with a goal and an assist on the day. The sophomore from Liverpool, England, scored an unassisted goal off a rebound in the 14th minute to put the Pioneers ahead, 1-0.

Point Park held an 11-6 advantage in shots the first half to stay in control. The Pioneers got some more breathing room in the 72nd minute when Mitchell Roell scored to make the lead 2-0. It was a beautiful goal for Roell, who took a pass from Whitley and finished it off with a bicycle kick.

Point Park's first shutout of the year ended up with a 19-10 advantage in shots and five saves from goalkeeper Ryan Daniels. A transfer from San Diego Mesa College, Daniels played all 90 minutes in his first start of the year.

Saturday started a busy stretch for the Pioneer as it was the first of four games in eight days. That continues with Monday's home game versus St. Vincent. Kickoff is 4 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
