FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University junior guard Gavin Rajahpillay earned a spot on the All-River States Conference Men's Basketball Second Team for 2016-17, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Rajahpillay, a 6-1 point guard from Hagerstown, Md., led the Pioneers with 16.2 points and 5.4 assists per game. Rajahpillay transferred to Point Park this year from Hagerstown CC.

As one of the top guards in the conference, he was one of only two players in the entire league to rank in the Top 10 of the RSC statistics in both scoring and assists per game. The other one was OCU's Marquis Jackson (23.2 ppg, 5.9 apg).

Rajahpillay ranked second in the RSC in assists and ninth in scoring. He shot 40 percent from the field and knocked in 47 treys in 24 games. His 130 total assists came versus just 57 turnovers, a ratio of better than 2 to 1. He ranked 15th in NAIA Division II in assists average.

Rajahpillay was one of three starters who were juniors this year for Point Park, all of which will return next year. Point Park was 8-20 overall, 5-12 RSC and was within playoff contention until the final weekend of the season.
